AVDA's hotline provides immediate response to the needs of victims seven days a
week, 24 hours a day. AVDA provides crisis counseling, safety planning,
screening for emergency shelter services, exploration of choices/options and referrals.
AVDA also works with the South Palm Beach County Law Enforcement agencies to
provide telephone counseling and advocacy to victims while on the scene of the incident.

CASA VEGSO
Casa Vegso is AVDA's residential program that includes emergency shelter and
transitional housing program.
- Emergency Shelter – Safety and Support Services are provided to residents in
our shelter that is staffed and operates 24-hours a day, everyday of the year.
Domestic violence victims and their children stay an average of six to eight
weeks in a safe environment while receiving advocacy and case management
services. Comprehensive case management assists residents in living
violence-free lives and obtaining economic self-sufficiency. They are provided
food, clothing, transportation, basic need items, information and referrals,
and continuous safety planning assistance.
- Transitional Housing - provides domestic abuse survivors and their children a
place to live for up to two years. This gives survivors time to transition
from homelessness to economic independence while receiving encouragement and
other services as needed, such as life-skills training and legal advocacy.

Outreach Programs
- COUNSELING AND ADVOCACY CENTER - AVDA offers a variety of nonresidential
services to adult and child victims of domestic violence through its
Counseling and Advocacy Center. Multi-language individual and group counseling
is available as well as educational and creative support groups. Children ages
4 to 15 years old are offered play therapy. AVDA provides critical
outreach to under-served populations
- LEGAL ADVOCACY - AVDA assists shelter and other people participating in the legal system. On-site education, screenings and
referrals for appropriate legal services are provided. Advocacy, court
accompaniment, assistance with injunctions for protection, safety planning and
police report follow-up services are available.
- PREVENTION AGAINST VIOLENCE EARLY (PAVE) - This six week educational program
is offered to children Pre-K through 5th grade. Program topics include the
identification and expressing of feelings, self-esteem, establishing healthy
relationships and problem solving.
- TEEN ANTI-VIOLENCE EDUCATION (TAVE) - AVDA provides middle and high school students with a tailored curriculum on dating violence, peer violence, healthy
relationships, conflict resolution and safety planning. The program is
interactive and includes role-playing and video presentations.
- PROFESSIONAL TRAINING - AVDA's professional educators provide training to
social service agencies, health care professionals and law enforcement
personnel. Participants receive important information to help in identifying
victims of domestic abuse and those at-risk of abuse as well as information on
available community resources. Workplace violence and prevention programs are available to businesses
and community groups.
- COMMUNITY EDUCATION - AVDA’s community educators are available to provide
speakers for civil or social organizations in the community on a variety of
topics addressing domestic abuse issues. Participants receive important
information to help in identifying victims of domestic abuse and those at-risk
of abuse as well as information on available community resources. This service
is also available to businesses and community groups.
