Committed Men

Committed Men

In 2015, AVDA was awarded funding to specifically work with young men and boys to prevent intimate partner violence.

Everyone has a role to play in ending violence! Men can support others to engage in healthy behaviors, intervene in violent situations, and examine their own role in reinforcing sexism. AVDA's men and boys programming engages adult male allies to mentor boys in developing skills to engage in healthy relationships and create a public education campaign to promote healthy relationships in our county.

COMMITMENT IS A CHOICE AND AN ACT!
Committed men ...
  • Report abusive and violent behavior to a trusted adult.
  • Speak out and stand up when someone is acting in an abusive way.
  • Encourage and support their peers to speak out and stand up against violence against women.
  • Never say negative things or gossip about women and girls in person or on social media.
  • Speak out when their peers make harmful jokes about women and girls.
  • Use positive and supportive words in all their relationships.
  • Respect their partner’s decisions.
  • Communicate how they feel and make sure their partner feels safe to do the same.
  • Listen and are willing to compromise because everyone’s opinions matter equally.
