AVDA hosts key events throughout the year in order to raise funds for the programs and services we provide to the community. These events serve not only to raise funds but to increase community awareness and support the survivors of domestic abuse and their children that we serve. Now in its 10th year, AVDA's Heart of a Woman Luncheon celebrates the strength, courage and determination of women, especially those who are overcoming domestic abuse.
Lily Rose Lee, formerly Michelle Knight was 21 years old when she was kidnapped in August 2002 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was held prisoner by Ariel Castro, suffering abuse at his hands for more than 10 years. After another captive escaped, Knight and a third victim were rescued in May 2013.
"Yes, I made it through one of the most terrible experiences that can happen to a human being, but most of all, my story is about hope. I might have been chained, starved, and beaten, yet that monster couldn’t totally crush my spirit. Over and over I chose to get back up and keep going. Now I’m going to tell you how I did it.”

Tickets for the Luncheon are $150.00 per person
